Hey there! Welcome to my second blog post for the 20-time project (which is about raising money for an animal shelter to fight animal cruelty). It has been about a week since I last posted and not much has changed since then. I know I should have started to actually do some research and get ahead, but that obviously didn’t happen. Unfortunately, 20-Time was the least of my worries as I stressed over homework and upcoming tests. So I’m sorry about that. However, it is now set in stone that I will be working with my friend, Kate, on this project. She will likely be in charge of the making of the dog treats and I will be in charge of my idea which was making the shirts. We will likely supervise each other as well so it is not like we are doing two separate projects and just combining them in the end. As for research, I have looked up campaigning and how to raise awareness for a cause. I learned that one obvious, but also extremely useful, way is to just put it out on social media. In a time where most people have a smartphone or access to the internet, social media is a part of many’s everyday lives. By putting it on a social media platform such as twitter or instagram, it can reach more people than it would by just hanging flyers or spreading it verbally. In the next few weeks I want to decide more on what we are going to be actually doing. Are we going to host an event or just sell the shirts and treats? I also want to start thinking about a catchy campaign slogan as that is crucial for a good fundraiser.
Looking ahead, I think I like where this project will go. It is something I am passionate about and I feel like it is something that I could be proud of. I am imagining how we could make this into more than just selling shirts and treats. If we tried and it was plausible, we could do something really cool with our ideas.
